Warbirds Head in New Direction
« Back

December 17, 2004 - Dayton, OH--The Dayton Warbirds have released Head Coach Chris MacKeown from his contract. “Chris is good guy with a lot of potential. I just did not feel that we were moving in the direction that I wanted to under Chris’ guidance,” said Jodway. “This was not personal in any way. It was a business decision and I wish Coach MacKeown all the best in his pursuits.”

Stepping in as Interim-Coach will be Steve Carpenter. Coach Carpenter was originally on staff and will remain with the team. “Coach Carpenter will be the contact for the coaching staff until a permanent replacement is announced,” said Jodway. “We are very pleased the Steve has agreed to stay on board with us. He is a very capable coach that displays the dedication and professionalism we are looking for in a coach.” Jodway added. “He is certainly a candidate to lead the team on the field in 2005.”

The team will make a final announcement in the next few weeks. “We have a number of quality coaches to choose from and we will do our best to bring an effective leader to the team,” Jodway concluded.

The Dayton Warbirds will begin their inaugural season March 17th, 2005 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the office at 427-9737. For more information on the Dayton Warbirds, visit the website at www.daytonwarbirds.com
