March 2, 2005 - Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) will officially open its 2005 season, the team’s first in the UIF, this Friday, March 4. Players will report to Sioux Falls this week for physicals and the beginning of the team’s training camp Friday night at 9:00 p.m. at the Empire Golf & Sport Dome in Sioux Falls.

Practice will consist pre-dominantly of Storm veterans. More than half of last year’s conference championship squad will return to the team this season. The wide receiving corps of Corey Walker, Matt Holmlund, and Casey Veenhof remains in tact as is the offensive line of Nate Scheuer, John Semchenko, and Brad Lupkes. Defensively, Shannon Poppinga and Andre Fields return as defensive backs while Nate Fluit, Austin Flyger, and Bill Gassen make up the defensive front line. Numerous other key role players from last year’s 13-4 team return as well.

Top newcomer Terrance Bryant (QB) figures to make the biggest impact of new faces on the Storm roster. Bryant is a four-year indoor football veteran and former all-league MVP while playing for the Rapid City Red Dogs.

The team will cut its roster to 35 players on March 7 before deciding on a final roster on March 13, six days before the Storm’s opener against Omaha.

The Storm will host its first home game on April 9 against the Lexington Horsemen at the Sioux Falls Arena. Season tickets for the 2005 season are on-sale now. To order, call the Storm office at 605-332-4225 or visit the Storm online at www.siouxfallsstorm.com.
