February 22, 2005 - Dayton, OHThe Big Ten connections keep coming in for the Dayton Warbirds, as the team lands two big play-makers in BJ Lovett and Grant Carter to play wide receiver.
BJ Lovett is a 64 210 pound wide-out from Michigan State University. He has also played in the NFL, suiting up for the Cleveland Browns and the San Diego Chargers in 2003. Before he went to college, he was the state runner up in Florida for the High School Heisman. BJ gives us some excellent speed and height at the receiver position, said Head Coach Matt King. I believe he can create some match-up problems for the opposition, King added.
Grant Carter comes to the Warbirds from the University of Minnesota where he played from 1997 to 2001. Carter is a 61 175 pound receiver and the big brother of former Ohio Sate Buckeye and current Carolina Panther, Drew Carter. Both BJ and Grant give us great speed and soft hands, King said with a grin. These two can be very special players, King concluded.
I am amazed at the level of talent Coach King has brought to this team, said Jeffrey A. Jodway, President and General Manager. I cant imagine a better recruiter in this business, Jodway added.
The Warbirds kick off their inaugural season March 17th at the Nutter Center vs. Peoria. Season tickets are on sale now, but are going fast. For more information on the Warbirds, please visit their website at www.daytonwarbirds.com or call the office at (937) 427-9737.
