February 17, 2005 - TUPELO, MS--Two former Mississippi State Bulldogs have signed with the FireAnts for the 2005 season. Joining the ’Ants on the offensive line is Tupelo, MS native Donald Tucker and wide receiver/defensive back Michael Gholar from Prentiss, MS.

Tucker, a 6-foot-5, 298-pounder joined Mississippi State after a successful high school career at Tupelo High. Redshirting his first year with the Bulldogs in 1999, Tucker earned a starting role on the offensive line in 2001. In all, Tucker played a total of 27 games at State through the 2002 season.

“Donald Tucker is a solid football player,” FireAnts Head Coach John Fourcade said. “He will be an asset on our offensive line, and with a little determination and hard work, has the opportunity to elevate himself to the next level.”

Also joining the ‘Ants is former Mississippi State basketball/football player Michael Gholar. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Gholar was a four-year basketball letterman with the Dogs before turning his attention toward football in 2002 where he made a huge impact racking up 66 total tackles, three sacks and one interception in 11 games played.

“Michael Gholar is an outstanding all-around athlete,” Fourcade continues. “He is a phenomenal person that has the talent to make some big contributions to this team and really go places.”
