« Back
December 2, 2004 - Sioux Falls, SD-Sioux Falls Storm Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs has been added to the football coaching staff at the University of Sioux Falls. Riggs will return to his alma mater, where he set numerous NAIA passing records as a college quarterback, and serve as quarterbacks coach. He will step down from his position on the Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School football coaching staff, but will remain on as head coach of the Storm.

Riggs will join a staff that is being reconstructed after the recent retirement of USF’s head coach Bob Young. The Cougars finished 11-1 this season and were ranked #1 in the nation for the final six weeks of the season.

“We are excited Kurtiss has an opportunity to work with a class act like the University of Sioux Falls,” Storm General Manager Colin Steen said. “We know he’ll be a great asset to the Cougar coaching staff.”

2005 will mark Riggs’ third year as head coach of the UIF team. The Storm went 13-4 last season and captured a conference title. In two seasons, the team is 23-9 with Riggs at the helm.
