January 21, 2005 - Omaha, NE-Omaha Beef Football today announce the signing of three defensive players with Leif Murphy, Cale Good and Dontae Jones.

The Beef add 6-4, 270lb defensive end Leif Murphy to the roster. Murphy was named Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2004 after accruing 28 tackles for loss and 15 sacks while playing for the Tri City Diesel.

While attending North Dakota State University, Murphy was a 2-time All-American and earned NCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Year honors. He also played for the Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League and the Bismarck Roughriders.

Returning to the Beef roster are defensive back Dontae Jones and linebacker Cale Good.

With six games played in 2004, Good accumulated 9 tackles – one for a loss - and .5 sacks. “He is healthy and strong coming into this season.” said Head Coach Robert Fuller. “Cale battled injuries all of last season and that hurt his progress. He has really utilized this off-season and is probably in the best shape of his life. Fans should expect to see great things from him this season.”

Jones earned 2003 Divisional and Conference All-Star honors as a cornerback. He played 13 games in 2004 with 10 starts. Jones intercepted the ball twice with 41 yards return. He scored one touchdown on a fumble and accumulated 30.5 tackles. Fuller said “Dontae has been the heart and soul of the Beef secondary for the last few years. He is a complete professional and we are very happy to have him return.”

Omaha Beef Football will host an invitation only player tryout at The Soccer Center located at 147th & Giles on Saturday, January 29th and Sunday, January 30th. Any player interested in participation should contact Head Coach Robert Fuller at the Omaha Beef Football office. The general public is invited to observe.
