January 20, 2005 - Dayton, OH-The Dayton Warbirds, an expansion team in the United Indoor Football Association (UIF) are excited to announce the signing of Steve Bellisari to their roster. Bellisari played quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 1998 to 2001. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2002 NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams as a defensive back.

During his career at OSU, Bellisari amassed 5,878 yards passing with 35 touchdowns and added 825 yards rushing with another 5 scores. He had a career 51 percent completion percentage and also played some defense during his first two seasons.

“This is a tribute to the efforts of our coaching staff and the city that players such as Steve Bellisari wish to continue their careers right here in Dayton,” said Jeffrey A. Jodway, President and General Manager. “With the signings of Steve and Pepe, I believe we will have a fantastic season and give the fans a product they can be proud of,” Jodway added.

“Steve Bellisari brings key assets to our offense. He gives us experience, leadership, and a guy that’s not afraid to get hit,” said Matt King, Head Coach for the Warbirds. “Steve is big, fast, and knows the system. He can also play defense if we get in a pinch and that is huge at this level,” added Coach King.

The Warbirds kick off their inaugural season March 17th at the Nutter Center vs. Peoria. Season tickets are on sale now. For more information on the Warbirds, please visit their website at www.daytonwarbirds.com or call the office at (937) 427-9737.
