Ohio State Great Now a Warbird

January 10, 2005 - Dayton, OH-The Dayton Warbirds, an expansion team in the United Indoor Football Association (UIF) are excited to announce the signing of Pepe Pearson to their roster. Pepe Person is the 5th all-time leading rusher for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Pepe was a standout tailback for the Buckeyes from 1994 through 1998 and helped Ohio State to four bowl games including a 1996 Rose Bowl victory. A four-year letter winner at Ohio State, Pearson gained 1,486 yards and had 17 touchdowns on 299 carries his junior year and was selected Big Ten and Team MVP.

Pearson played in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also played in NFL Europe where he won the 2001 World Bowl Championship for the Rhein Fire scoring the game-winning touchdown.

“I can’t describe how excited we are to have someone with the experience of Pepe Pearson on our roster,” said Jeffrey A. Jodway, President and General Manager of the Warbirds. “He truly brings the star power and football knowledge we have been looking for from the beginning.”

“It is great to have a player like Pepe in the locker room to teach these younger guys and give them an idea of what to expect at the next level,” said head coach Matt King. “He truly is a special player,” added King.
