December 14, 2005 - UIF REALIGNS, RELEASES 2006 SCHEDULE
League to feature East, Central and West Divisions
United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the home openers for the 2006 season. The UIF welcomes in the Bloomington Extreme and the Rock River Raptors for the second year of the indoor football league. The Raptors are the former Tennessee Valley Raptors from the 2005 season.
Each of the ten teams will partake in a 16-week schedule with each organization playing in 15 games and given one bye week. The season will kick-off on Friday, March 24, 2006, with the 2005 UIF Champions, the Sioux Falls Storm, traveling to Omaha to take on the Beef. The Ohio Valley Greyhounds will also be on the road that night to battle the Lexington Horsemen. The remaining six teams will all play the night after on Saturday, March 25, 2006.
The 2006 season will feature a new Divisional structure with the Evansville Bluecats, the Fort Wayne Freedom, the Lexington Horsemen, and the Ohio Valley Greyhounds in the East Division. The Central Division will feature the two new teams of Bloomington and Rock River, and also the Peoria Rough Riders. The Omaha Beef will be in the West Division with last years 2005 United Bowl teams, the Sioux Falls Storm and the Sioux City Bandits.
2006 UIF Division structure:
East: Evansville, Fort Wayne, Lexington and Ohio Valley
Central: Bloomington, Peoria and Rock River
West: Omaha Sioux City and Sioux Falls
