December 13, 2005 - Raptors sign Seven Players after 2nd day try-outs
65 Players came to the Rock River Raptors try-outs trying to fulfill a dream of playing Professional football. Out of the 65 players Who tried out the Raptors have signed 7 players led by 6’5” Quarterback Ryan Aulenbacher from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Aulenbacher has 3 years experience in Indoor and Arena Football. Another player with arena and indoor experience is Rockford’s Billy Cook a 5’10 Defensive back form Grand Valley State University who Played for Richards in Charleston, when he was the Head Coach for the swap Foxes in the AF2..
Players who signed their first pro contracts were Broch Meyer, 6’3 270 a defensive end from Milledgeville who played at Luther College and semi pro with the Roscoe Rush. Mike Harrington Jr., 5’11 225 a fullback/linebacker who played at Rock Valley College. Courtney Ford, 5’11 210 Wide Receiver / Defensive Back who is a former Rockford Guilford and Sterling student that played at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Matt Webster, 5’11 a place kicker who played at St. Ambrose and was an NAIA Division II All American in his senior year. Dan Garien, a Loves Park resident who listed no collegiate experience. “All of these young men have an opportunity now, what they do with it form here is up to them,” said Richards.
All Seven Players will participate in Spring Training in March.
