The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced the Wichita Wild’s 2009 schedule today as well as the divisional breakdown for the 2009 IFL season. The Wild will participate in the inaugural season of the IFL with 18 other teams stretching from Alaska to Rochester, NY.
The IFL will be divided into two conferences with two divisions each. The Wild will compete in the United Conference’s Central Division. The Central Division will also consist of the Bloomington Extreme, Omaha Beef, Sioux City Bandits, and Sioux Falls Storm.
During the 2009 season, the Wild will play 14 regular season games with all seven home games being played at Hartman Arena. The Wild will play nine different teams during the season.
The season will kick-off on Friday, March 20 as the Wild travel to Omaha. Omaha is the closest rival to Wichita in the league. Following a bye week, the Wild will help open Hartman Arena with a game vs. Sioux Falls on Saturday, April 4.
The Wild will also play in Hartman Arena on Saturday April 11 in the first of three games vs. the RiverCity Rage. On Saturday, May 2 the Wild will host the Abilene Ruff Riders. This will be the first game the Wild will play vs. a team from the Intense Football League which merged with United Indoor Football to form the current IFL.
The Odessa Roughnecks will visit Wichita on Saturday, May 23 and Omaha will make the trip to Wichita on Saturday, June 13 in the Wild’s final game vs. a division opponent. Wichita will wrap-up the regular season with two games at Hartman Arena. RiverCity will make a return trip on Saturday, June 27 and the Alaska Wild will visit Wichita on Friday, July 3.
