September 12, 2005 - Omaha, NE - – UIF teams met in St. Louis, MO this last weekend for their fall league meetings. Several key issues were discussed and decided during the three day event.
A Thursday night mixer kicked off the UIF weekend in St. Louis. Teams from around United Indoor Football met casually and caught up on stories and issues from the inaugural season. Friday and Saturday were booked solid with seminars and round-table discussion on everything from sales and marketing, expansion, scheduling, player recruiting and advancement, and league leadership.
Among those issues decided was the transfer of the Tennessee Valley (Huntsville, AL) team to Rockford, Illinois. The UIF Raptors will make the move from Huntsville, AL to Rockford, IL immediately. The Raptors have been conditionally approved for the move by a unanimous vote of the UIF Board of Directors. Formal approval is expected by the end of the month. The UIF, along with team owner Art Clarkson, is excited about bringing professional indoor football to the Rockford area. League Executive Director, Dakota Crow, stated “We believe it is a great fit for the area and a great fit for the league.”
Also decided in St. Louis were some key dates for 2006. Team tryouts will begin in October and take place thru March of next year. Teams will post their tryouts on their respected sights. Training camp will officially start on March 10th, 2006 across the league. Opening weekend of the UIF in 2006 will be March 24th thru the 26th. Pre-Season meetings have been set for January in Las Vegas, NV.
Teams are working hard on ticket and sponsorship sales for 2006. Everyone is excited to build on the success of 2005 and make year two in the UIF the best ever in indoor football.
