April 7, 2005 - Lexongton, KY - The Lexington Horsemen will play the second game of a three-game road swing Saturday as they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., to face the Sioux Falls Storm in a re-match of last season’s national championship game. Kickoff is set for 8:05 p.m. EST and the game will be carried live on Supertalk 96.1 FM with Gary Ball and Randy Wilson. Lexington (2-1) is coming off its first loss this season, having dropped a 57-52 decision on the road at Evansville last Saturday. Quarterback Dusty Bonner completed 19-of-35 passes for 143 yards with three touchdowns. Running back Derek Homer scored two touchdowns on the ground for the Horsemen, rushing for 37 yards.
The Horsemen and the Storm have only met once in the history of their franchises, a 59-38 Lexington win last season in the national championship game. Bonner threw for 193 yards, including five touchdowns in last year’s title title.
The Storm are 1-1 on the 2005 season. The Horsemen play Peoria next Saturday , in Peoria, Illinois. The Horsemen return home April 30th against Ohio Valley, that game is Old School Night,sponsored by University Commons Apartments.
