July 29, 2007 - Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm will host the Lexington Horsemen in United Bowl III after defeated Billings 45-23 in the Western Conference championship Sunday afternoon. Lexington defeated Bloomington 67-49 Saturday in the Eastern Conference championship. Sioux Falls has now won 37 consecutive games and will be looking to capture its third United Indoor Football title in as many years.
Leading 28-23 at half, Sioux Falls would keep Billings scoreless in the second half. The Outlaws had difficulty converting on third down going 4-of-10 in the contest. They were also 0-of-1 on fourth down. Mark Blackburn lead Sioux Falls’ defense with eight total tackles while teammates Cory Johnsen and Leif Murphy put Billings in long situations. Murphy had three tackles for loss for 15 yards and two sacks for eleven. Johnsen had a sack for four yards and three tackles for loss for seven yards.
In a battle between the two Western Conference All-Star quarterbacks, Sioux Falls’ Terrance Bryant and Billings’ Chris Dixon both completed 15 passes with two touchdowns. However, Bryant passed for 232 yards compared to Dixon’s 100. Leon Hall caught six of Bryant’s passes for yards and James Terry grabbed four for 114 yards and the two Bryant touchdown tosses.
