July 25, 2007 - Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football is pleased to announce that Chris Dixon, J.T. Haskins and Anthony Candler have been named the players of the week for the first round of the 2007 UIF Playoffs. Dixon’s stellar performance against Omaha earned him Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Anthony Candler took care of special teams. Lexington’s J.T. Haskins proved to be a prime time player against RiverCity to earn Defensive Player of the Week.
Chris Dixon (BIL) went 23-of-27 with no picks for 278 yards and seven touchdowns. Dixon also had three carries for seven yards and a TD. After their 62-27 win over Omaha, the Outlaws will now visit the two-time defending United Bowl champion Sioux Falls Storm this Sunday to determine who will represent the Western Conference at United Bowl III.
J.T. Haskins (LEX) had eight tackles and three interceptions returned for 30 yards against RiverCity, as the Horsemen defeated the Rage 48-33. Lexington will now host Bloomington in the Eastern Conference Championship Saturday night.
Anthony Candler (BIL) returned four kickoffs for 77 yards. He also had nine receptions for 114 yards and three touchdowns.
Receiving honorable mentions for the first round of the playoffs were: Offense, Dusty Burk (BLO); Defense, Maurice Simpkins (ROC); and Special Teams, Peter Christofilakos (BLO).
